Tua Tagovailoa Injury: Dolphins QB suffers injury vs. Bills. Tua Tagovailoa, the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback, appeared to have suffered a head injury during their game against the Buffalo Bills. Tagovailoa was brought to the locker room.
Tagovailoa sustained the injury after a fourth-down scramble up the middle that resulted in first-down yardage. The quarterback, however, ended the play by leaning headfirst into a tackle from Bills safety Damar Hamlin. Tagovailoa was able to walk off the field on his own accord after receiving medical attention from various trainers from the Dolphins.
Tagovailoa entered the National Football League’s concussion protocol twice during the 2022 season. He also appeared to have sustained major impacts to the head in three different games. This was a big cause for concern for Tagovailoa. In spite of the fact that the injuries caused him to miss four games and a playoff appearance, Tagovailoa admitted that he had seriously pondered retiring from the sport of football.
Following the addition of weight and conditioning in an effort to reduce the number of concussions he sustained, Tagovailoa was able to play all 17 games of the previous season without suffering a severe injury.
Before suffering an injury on Thursday, Tagovailoa had completed 17 of 25 passes for 145 yards, one touchdown, and three interceptions. Skylar Thompson came in to continue the game in his stead.
