SSC JHT Eligibility Criteria

Those candidates who are interesting to apply for SSC Junior Hindi Translator must be well aware of the eligibility criteria set by the Staff Selection Commission. Candidates have to fulfill the criteria such as age limit, educational qualification, nationality criteria to apply for SSC JHT.

Nationality

  • Candidates should be a citizen of India or a subject of Bhutan or Nepal.
  • A refugee from Tibet who came to India, before January 1, 1962, for permanently settling in India
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from international countries like Sri Lanka, East African nations of Uganda, Ethiopia, Burma, Pakistan, Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Zaire, Malawi and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.

Number of Attempts

The SSC board has not announced a fixed cap on the number of times a candidate can attempt for SSC JHT therefore a candidate can keep attempting for SSC JHT till he/she crosses the age limit.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates need to ensure that they fulfil any one of the educational criteria for SSC JHT 2021 exam as mentioned below
  • Master’s Degree from a recognized University in English with Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Master’s Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Master’s Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium and English as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Master’s Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium and Hindi as a compulsory or elective subject, or
  • Master’s Degree in any subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects, or
  • Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years‟ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office.

Age Limit

  • Candidates should be 18 to 30 years old as on January 1, 2021.
  • Candidates born not before January 2, 1991, and not later than January 1, 2003, are eligible to apply for the SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2021 exam.

Age Relaxation

Permissible upper age limit relaxation is applicable for reserved candidates as below.

SSC JHT Application Process

The Service Selection Commission has already started the SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2021 application process. Eligible candidates can do the registration through online mode only by visiting the official website of SSC and fill the application form before Jul 25, 2021 . SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2021 application fees are INR 100. Women candidates and reserved category candidates are exempted from paying the SSC JHT 2021 examination fee.

Step 1: Visit the website

  • Open the official website of the Service Selection Commission.
  • Click on the “Apply” option
  • After the page is opened, click on “JHT” which redirects you to the SSC JHT 2021 application page. Click “Apply” again.

Step 2: Login as a new user

  • This is a one-time registration process where candidates need to register as a new user and provide their credentials.
  • Provide a valid personal email ID and an active mobile number which will be used for further communication.

Step 3: Fill the basic details

  • Candidates should keep all the documents ready before filling the details.
  • Mobile Number, Email ID, Aadhar ID ( or any other government-approved ID, school ID/college ID, Employer ID), 10th examination roll number, and year of passing details are to be kept beforehand while filling up the form.
  • Fill up your father’s name, mother’s name, nationality, date of birth, education details, category, permanent address, present address.

Step 4: Upload photograph and signature

  • Upload a scanned copy of your photo (3.5 cm width X 4.5 cm height) in JPEG format(20KB to 50KB)
  • Upload your signature (4 cm width X 2 cm height) in JPEG format(20KB to 50KB)
  • Candidates need to save and take a draft printout of the information provided and carefully check them before submitting the SSC Junior Hindi Translator 2021 application form.

Step 5: Payment of Application fee

  • After the candidate has completed the SSC JHT 2021 application form, they can pay it through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay Credit or Debit card or in cash at SBI Branches by generating SBI Challan.
  • Online fee payment can be made till July 25, 2021, and the challan payment can be made before 31 July 2021.

Step 6: Final Submission

  • Click on the “I agree” checkbox and fill up the captcha. Verify the information and submit your SSC JHT 2021 application.
  • Candidates are required to take the SSC JHT 2021 application form for their record which can be used for future references.

SSC Junior Hindi Translator Selection Process

The Examination will consists of two papers viz.,
Paper-I:
a) General Hindi : 100 marks (Objective type)
b) General English : 100 marks (Objective type)

  • The questions will be designed to test the candidates’ understanding of the languages and literature, correct use of words, phrases and idioms and ability to write the languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
  • The questions will be of degree level.
  • Paper-II of only such candidates who are shortlisted on the basis of their performance in Paper-I will be evaluated.

Paper-II: Translation and Essay: 200 Marks (Conventional Type)

  • The paper will contain two passages for translation-one passage for translation from Hindi to English and one passage for translation from English to Hindi, and an Essay each in Hindi and English, to test the candidates’ translation skills and their ability to write as well as comprehend the two languages correctly, precisely and effectively.
  • The Commission will fix separate qualified standards in Paper-II of the written examination.

Resolution of the Cases: 

In cases where more than one candidate secure the equal aggregate marks, tie will be resolved by applying the following methods one after another :-

  • Total marks in the written examination.
  • Marks in Paper-I .
  • Marks in Paper-II.
  • Date of birth with older candidates placed higher.
  • Alphabetical order in the first names of the candidates appear.

  • The total number of questions asked in the Computer based online test (CBT) is 200 for 200 marks
  • The total marks for each correct answer is 1.
  • 0.25 negative marks for an incorrect answer
  • Total number of marks = 1*Total number of correct answers – 0.25*Total number of incorrect answers.
