New Nominated Rajya Sabha Members List 2022 – Check Full List – The President of India nominated four new members to the Rajya Sabha on July 6, 2022 representing various South Indian states. The newly nominated members of the Rajya Sabha include PT Usha, Virendra Hegde, KV Vijayendra Prasad and Ilaiyaraaja.
The newly nominated Rajya Sabha members include a great female athlete, experienced musician, a philanthropist and Indian screenwriter and film director and father of SS Rajamouli. Of the four newly nominated members, PT Usha is the only woman, while Ilaiyaraaja belongs to the Dalit community.
- The Upper house is a non dissolvable body but one-thirds of its members retire every second year and new ones are appointed for a fixed term of six years.
- Rajya Sabha has a total 245 members out of which 233 are elected from state/UTs .

Who nominates the 12 members of the RS?
- The President nominates 12 members to the Rajya Sabha from people who have special knowledge or practical experience in art, literature, science and social service.
- The rationale behind this principle of nomination is to provide eminent persons a place in the Rajya Sabha without going through the process of election.
