Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG) V K Saxena had on August 6 approved the suspension of 11 officers for “serious lapses” in the implementation of the Delhi government’s controversial excise policy. The suspended officers include AGUMUT-cadre IAS office Arava Gopi Krishna, who was transferred from the post of Delhi Excise Commissioner on July 12.

On July 15, the governor approved a massive bureaucratic reshuffle, transferring around 200 officers, including some officers of the Delhi Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS) and IAS cadre, who had been serving in the same department for over five years.

Earlier, CBI officials searched the house of Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia on Friday morning as part of their probe into the excise policy case. As AAP said, the raids became an important flashpoint as the agency was working on instructions “from above”.
