Gujarat Public Service examination (GPSC) conducts the GPSC Exam every year, and following study material is essential to crack the examination. Candidates need good guidance and, more importantly, good books to clear the exams with high marks. The exam is conducted in three stages: the preliminary/screening exam, the main exam, and the personal interview.

Citizens of India are eligible to apply for the GPSC exam.
Number of attempts
There is no specific limit on the number of attempts a candidate can make, but they have to strictly adhere to the upper age limit as specified by the commission
A candidate with the aspiration to appear and ace the examination must hold a bachelor’s degree or more from a state/central recognized university.
Candidates who appeared for their final semester examination and are waiting for the results to be declared can also appear for the GPSC exam.
Although, during the application process for the main stage of the exam, the candidate has to submit his/her certificates and final semester scorecard.

Maximum age limit to appear for the exam – 35 years old or below
Minimum age limit to appear for the exam – 20 years old or above
Age Relaxation
Category of the candidate
Relaxation in age
A candidate from SC, ST, Socially and Educationally Backward Classes with origin in the state of Gujarat.
The candidate gets his/her age relaxed for up to 5 years.
The maximum age limit of the person to appear for the exam shall be 45 years.
A female candidate belonging to any of the reserved categories
The candidate gets to experience age relaxation of 10 years.
A candidate who has served as an ex-serviceman/officer
The candidate gets to experience age relaxation of their entire military years with the addition of 3 years.
The candidate should’ve served in the military at least for five years.
Candidates who are physically disabled
The commission relaxes the work according to the person’s disability.
The candidates get to experience age relaxation of about ten years.
Candidates who are physically challenged must provide a certificate/document proving their statement.
Female candidates of any unreserved categories
The person gets her age relaxed up to 5 years from the actual maximum age limit.
A person who had served the state government
The candidate doesn’t get to experience any relaxation in age during the upper age.
 Application fees
Fees for general category and OBC candidates – INR 100/-
For SC/ST candidates – No fee required.
For socially/economically backward classes of state of Gujarat only – No fees.
For Physically challenged candidates – No fees.
Fees can be remitted in both offline/online modes
Offline Mode – Candidates have to remit the required fee at any post office branches and get a challan as an acknowledgment for the same. Later the same challan number has to be entered in the online application form.
Online Mode – Candidates can pay the fee online through internet banking/ credit or debit cards, etc.
Fees paid through any other mode – cash/ Demand draft / Indian postal order ARE NOT ACCEPTED.
GPSC Selection Process:
The first stage is the preliminary examination. The marks of the Pre-exam will not be considered while preparing the merit list.
Candidates qualifying for the preliminary examination will be eligible to appear in the main examination. The main examination marks play an important role in the merit list.
After that Candidates will be called to prove their suitability for the Gujrat Administrative Service (GAS) or Gujrat Police Service by the Interview. The candidates have to obtain minimum qualifying marks for clearing the interview.
GPSC Exam Pattern
Gujarat Civil Services Exam three stages.
Candidates must have to qualify all three stages of the Gujarat Civil Services Exam.
The first stage of the exam is Preliminary.
The second stage is the Mains Examination. Candidates who qualified the Preliminary exam after that attempted Main Exam.
The third stage is the Interview.

The preliminary examination consists of 2 papers – general studies 1 and general studies 2.
Each paper is of 200 marks and 3 hours each.

Mains | GPSC Study Material
Candidates who clear the preliminary exam with qualifying marks will be allowed to appear for the mains examination.
Here, all papers are descriptive in nature.
The mains exam consists of 6 papers totally.
The subjects covered are 3 papers of general studies, paper on Gujarati language, English language, and essay papers.
Each paper is allocated 150 marks and conducted for 3 hours each.
The total marks for the mains exam are 900.

Interview
Students who score above the cut off marks in the mains exam will be called in for the personality test or the interview round.
The marks scored in the mains exam, and the interview round will be taken for the final calculation of marks and, therefore, the ranking of the candidate in the final list.
The duration of the interview is not fixed. IT depends on the panel conducting the interview.
The interview will be conducted for a total of 100 marks.
The total marks of both mains and interview round come to 1000 marks.
