CGPSC Eligibility Criteria 2021

The candidates can check the detailed eligibility criteria for CGPSC State Service Exam (SSE) 2019 here. All the components of CGPSC SSE eligibility criteria are elaborated in a simple manner for the benefit of candidates. Along with the educational qualification required for State Civil Services, the candidates can also check the physical requirements that are necessary for posts such as Police Service/ Jail officer etc.

 Nationality

  • As per CGPSC eligibility 2021, the candidates who are interested in taking up the CGPSC must be citizens of India.
  • For candidates who have relocated to India have different criteria that they need to fulfill.

CGPSC Education Qualification

  • A candidate must hold a degree of any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other Educational Institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. 1956 or possess an equivalent qualification.
  • Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the commission’s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination will also be eligible for admission to the Preliminary Examination.
  • Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognized by the State Government as equivalent to a professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination.

Age Limit

According to CGPSC, the age limit is as follows –

  • For Non-Domicile Candidates (Non-Chhattisgarh Candidates): The minimum age limit for the non-domicile candidates is 21 years while the upper age limit should not be more than 30 years as on January 01 of the recruitment year.
  • For Domicile Candidates: Candidates who are permanent residents of Chhattisgarh must note that the lower age limit is 21 years and the upper age limit is 35 years.
  • For SC/ ST/ OBC: SC/ ST/ OBC candidates who are also the permanent residents of Chhattisgarh shall get a relaxation of five years in the upper age limit. For these candidates, 40 years is the upper age limit.

Other Age Limit Rules:

  • A candidate who comes under repatriate or displaced category and belongs to SC/ST/OBC category shall get a relaxation of eight years in the maximum or upper age limit.
  • Fives year relaxation in upper age limit for widows.
  • Fives years relaxation in upper age limit for Physically Handicapped candidates.

CGPSC Age Relaxation 2021

The above-prescribed CGPSC Age limit can be relaxed based on several conditions. The CGPSC 2020 Age relaxation is effective in the following cases:

  • An extension of over 2 years is given if the applicant possesses a Green Card in his/ her name under the Family Welfare Programme.
  • The age limit can be relaxed to a maximum of 3 years for the following cases.
  • If the interested candidate is a bonafide repatriate of Indian origin from Burma, who relocated to India on or after 1st June 1963 OR Srilanka, who moved to India after 1st November 1964 OR If the Candidate is a bonafide displaced person from East Pakistan – now Bangladesh – and had migrated to India in between 1st January 1964 and 25th March 1971.
  • In the case of Defense Services personnel, disabled in operations during hostilities with any foreign country or in a disturbed area and released as a consequence thereof.
  • If the candidate is a retrenched Government servant, after deducting from his age the period of all temporary service previously rendered by him up to a maximum of seven years.
  • The age limit can be relaxed up to a maximum of five years in the following cases.
  • A candidate who is a permanent resident in Chhattisgarh belongs to a caste or tribe declared as a scheduled caste or scheduled tribe or OBC by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
  • The candidate is a widow on her first appointment.
  • The candidate is a forward partner of a prize-winning couple under the Inter Caste Marriage Scheme as sponsored by the Tribal, Harijan, and Backward Class Welfare Department as per GAD Memo No. C-1085-3-1, dated 3-9-1985
  • The candidate is a sports person honored with the Gundadhur Samman or Maharaja Pravirchandra Bhanj Deo Samman or Shaheed Rajeev Pandey Award or Rashtriya Yuva awarded as per GAD memo No- F19-2/2005/1-3 Raipur dated 01-12-2006.
  • For the Commissioned Officers and Ex-servicemen including SSCOs/ECOs who have completed a minimum of five-year Military Service as on 1st January preceding the date of commencement of the examination. Also, they must have been released on completion of their assignment (even for those whose assignment is due to be finished within six months from the designated date).
  • A maximum of 8 years if and only If the candidate is a repatriate or was a displaced person as mentioned above and belongs to scheduled caste, scheduled tribe, or OBC as notified by Government of Chhattisgarh and is a permanent resident living in Chhattisgarh.
  • If the candidate filing under the category supra belongs to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe or OBC as recognized by the Government of Chhattisgarh.
  • Up to a maximum of 10 years in the following cases
    • For those who come under the category supra belonging to the scheduled caste or the scheduled tribe or OBC as recognized by the state government
    • for exclusively women candidates in accordance with the Rajpatra (Asadharan) date 7.2.1997, Published rule C.G. civil service (Special provision of appointment for women) Rule 1997
    • If the candidate is physically challenged and is applying to the service/posts class III. In this case, they must submit his disability certificate stating not less than 40% as issued by the respective authority.
  • In case of the Permanent or the Temporary employees of either of Central Government State Government OR any undertaking of Central Government will be entitled to an age relaxation of up to a maximum 38 years.
  • As per the general administration department’s circular no. F 1-2/2002/1/3 dated 02/06/2004, the Shiksha Karmi of Chhattisgarh state are also eligible for relaxation. In this case, the maximum age limit will be equal to the number of years for which they have worked as Shiksha karmi. However, to make calculations easier, a period of more than 6 months is treated as one year. Also, the benefit of this age relaxation can be availed only up to a maximum of 45 years of age.

Selection Process

The combined competitive examination comprises following successive stages:

  • The State Services Preliminary Examination for selection of candidates for Main Examination.
  • State Services Main Examination (Written Examination and Interview) for final selection of candidates for the various categories of services and post.

1. Preliminary Examination – (Objective Type):

In the Preliminary Examinations there will be 2 compulsory papers of 02 hours duration each. Both the question papers will have objective type multiple choice questions, five choices of answers for each question out of which one is to be selected. There will be negative marking for wrong answer.

  • First Question Paper: General Studies (Question 100, Marks 200, Duration 2.00 Hours). There shall be 50 Questions from Part ‘1’ & Part ‘2’ each. Each Question will carry 2 marks) for each wrong answer 1/3 marks of marks of correct answer will be deducted.
  • Second Question Paper: Aptitude Test (Question 100, Marks 200, Duration 2.00 Hours). for each wrong answer 1/3 marks of marks of correct answer will be deducted.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks: In each Question paper essential qualifying marks for unreserved category will be 33%, and 23% for reserved categories and handicapped candidates. Candidates will be short listed for main examination on the basis of merit.

2. Main Examination and Interview

Written Examination (Conventional Type) Grand Total 1550 Marks.

  • Question papers for Main Examination will be of Conventional nature i.e.: Short/ Medium/ Long answers Type.
  • Candidates short listed for the Main Examination on the basis of Preliminary Examination (Screening Test) must appear for all the seven papers in Main Examination. Candidates selected for the Interview on the basis of Main Examination must appear in the Interview. Absence in any paper of Main Examination and Interview will be liable for disqualification.
  • Paper-I (Language), Paper-II (Essay), Paper-III (History, Constitution and Public Administration), Paper-IV (Science, Technology and Environment), Paper-V (Economics & Geography), Paper-VI (Mathematics & Logical Ability), Paper-VII (Philosophy & Sociology) each paper will be carry 200 marks (i.e. 1400 marks).
  •  Interview/ Personality Test will be carry 150 marks.

CGPSC Exam Pattern 2021

  • The State Services Preliminary Examination for selection of candidates for Main Examination.

Paper III to VII will contain the questions as given below:

  • Section 01:- In this section there will be 20 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry02 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 40. (Word limit for answer of each question – about 30).
  • Section-02:– In this section there will be 10 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry 04 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 40. (Word limit for answer of each question – about 60).
  • Section 03:– In this section there will be 05 compulsory questions from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Each question will carry 08 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 40. (Word limit for answer of each question – about 100).
  • Section 04:- In this section total 03 questions will be given from various parts of the syllabus of the paper concerned. Out of which 02 questions will have to be solved. Each question will carry 20 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 40. (Word limit for answer of each question – about 250).
  • Section 05:– In this section total 02 questions will be given from various parts of the syllabus of paper concerned. Out of which 01 question will have to be solved. This question will carry 40 marks. Thus the maximum marks in this section will be 40. (Word limit for answer of the question – about 500).

CGPSC Interview/Personality Test

  • The candidates who qualify the section-wise minimum marks for Mains Exam will be called for the interview round.
  • The interview round will be the final round for the CGPSC State Service Recruitment.
  • The total marks for interview round are 150 marks
  • The interview will be face to face interaction with the representatives selected by CGPSC for this role
  • The final selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of total marks scored in Mains and Interview round that is from total 1550 Marks.
