Age Relaxation
- There is no restriction on the number of examination attempts as long as candidates are eligible for the age criteria.
- For government employees who have been in continuous service for at least three years have special exemptions.
- Relaxation in Upper Age Limit is given for 5 years
- For People with Disability (PwD), the upper age limit is relaxed by 10 years.
- Ex-servicemen who are below 53 years of age, can avail of BPSC age relaxation of three years plus the number of years in service.
Number of Attempts
- The number of attempts varies among the caste.
- In case of SC/ST, there is no limit on the number of attempts. The applicants who don’t belong to the open category can write up to six attempts.
- For OBC Noncreamy layer category the candidates can try up to nine attempts.
- There is no discrimination between the genders in a number of attempts.

- The BPSC exam is split into 3 divisions: Preliminary Exam, Main Exam, and Interview Round.

BPSC Interview Test
Candidates who had qualified the BPSC Mains Exam would be called for the ‘Interview’ Round. Candidates are interviewed by a Board appointed by the Commission. The main fields checked by the interviewer given below.
- The candidate will be interviewed by a board who will have before them a record of the candidate career and interests filled by the candidate in the Application Form.
- The objective of the interview is to check the personal suitability of the candidate for the career in the state services by a board of competent and unbiased observers.
- In the personality test, apart from their academic study, candidates must be aware of the affairs happening both within and outside their state.
- The interview is more of purpose conversation intended to explore the mental qualities and analytical ability of the candidate.
Preparation Strategy
Candidates must have an effective preparation strategy to be able to qualify the BPSC Selection Process for the CCE. The candidates can follow the steps suggested by the experts to improve their chances of selection:
- You should study for at least 6 hours every day to be well-prepared for the examination. You can take an off from studying one day in the week and have some rest.
- You should work out for an hour every day, at least, to attain the physical measurements required for the post. You can take an off from working out one day in the week.
- Read newspapers, magazines, online articles everyday and stay updated about the current affairs.
- Attempt time-bound mock tests to assess your time management.
- Keep practicing reading and writing in Hindi to develop fluency and speed.

- Last one month should be kept only for revision and mock tests.
- Practice at least one mock test every week in a time bound manner.
- This will help you get the feel of the actual exam environment and help you with your time management during the preliminary and main exam.
- In the last month, practice one mock test daily.
- Inculcate a habit of reading online articles, blogs, newspapers, magazines in addition to the books recommended by the experts.
- This will help improve your general awareness and general knowledge in an effortless manner.
- Take help of your friends or family to practice interview questions. You may also seek tips from experts to help improve your preparedness for the interview.
- Having adequate sleep, proper diet and regular exercise are also important to help you stay sharp and active during the exam.
